Excerpts from Sample Readings

"The first thing that stands out in this chart is the word 'artistic'. There are 7 placements that have artistic leanings in this chart - and that's quite a few. This is not quite the same as saying the person with this chart is destined to be an artist - although this person may produce some art of one sort or another (the most likely candidate areas being film or music). This chart has a different emphasis than 'being an artist' though... What this chart actually looks like is the chart of a critic, art appreciator, esthete perhaps, or even an academic. What this chart really reminds me of is the former film critic of The New Yorker, Pauline Kael. I'll explain why over the next couple pages...."

"The first level of purpose has to do with what I am going to call for the moment 'a magic spark of life'. You have an extremely dynamic exact opposition between Uranus conjunct the Ascendant in the first house and Chiron conjunct the Descendant in the 7th house. This is a specific and rather unusual aspect creating a tight and powerful flow of energy right along the line in the chart that governs the interaction between yourself and other people..."

"But…right now, right this very moment, the dynamic is changing. You are experiencing a Jupiter return, technically beginning around the end of this month. In your case, Jupiter is busy strongly activating opportunities for you to finally buy a house."

"So from the beginning your chart tags you as a gifted communicator but it just doesn't know exactly what it wants to communicate. Then we come to Neptune, one of your personal planets of creativity and the plot thickens. You can sort of see the fault line in this chart taking shape around issues, not just of writing but of creativity in general. I'm going to call this fault line 'fiction' and 'non-fiction'. That doesn't exactly encompass everything but it's a short-hand way of getting at it. Your chart plants its feet very firmly in both camps, won't budge, won't compromise, and won't yield. I am tentatively going to give the edge to non-fiction but my goodness what a battle, what an argument rages in the chart on this topic. It is perfectly possible that your chart expects you to engage in both kinds of expression and you may indeed need to do just that. But let's take a look at the details..."

"The chart has in its mind an ideal. The ideal is that each person on earth is accepted and respected as a human being as they are, without question or argument or twisting and distortion. That's a basic moral tenet of this chart's universe. That's how things ought to be. People, it thinks, have a basic right to be respected and honored at face value. This chart has a huge issue with not being accepted at face value and it feels like it encountered this frustrating and infuriating phenomenon of not being straightforwardly accepted many times. Sometimes the chart feels like the whole world has tried to fight it...."

"Those would be the normal sorts of visible effects. But the more important point about this factor is what it's intended to accomplish, however it does it. The key factor here is love. The person's chart has thus far not provided enough of it. (It may have provided intense closeness with a family member such as the mother, but not the kind of love people really need. You can't throw Uranus right smack down on a Leo Ascendant and not expect a person's life to get messed up to some extent.) Since people can't live without sufficient love indefinitely, some way must be arranged for this person to get their hands on some. So what the chart does is create a connection to what is called the higher octave of Venus, the more universal love that Neptune represents. Pisces (and this person's sun is in Pisces) has a natural connection to this universal energy source and the interface is fantasy. Ideals, illusions, crushes, delusions, romantic dreams, fairy tales, anything the human heart can generate that will allow it to believe, in spite of all of the evidence presented by the hard, cruel world that somewhere out there is the perfect love, the perfect rescue, something undying and unbelievably beautiful and glorious. If anybody deserves to spend their adolescence fantasizing their brains out with dreams of rescue, romance, redemption, triumph, glory, and anything else you can imagine, it would be the person with this chart. And the chart actually wants them to have this side to their personality. It is the side that allows them to experience what love and admiration would be like if the world would start giving them their fair share. They need an element like this to sustain themselves. They need it to retain their compassion, their humanity, and some sweet naivete and gullibility. They need a certain romantic gullibility as part of their charm. It is another building block in the truly impressive personality this chart is building."

"The second thing is that this Mercury is squarely within the second house - often labeled as the house of personal resources. This child's mental and intellectual abilities are intended to be a lifelong personal resource. They are supposed to help her achieve things and make her life easier - and also to help her deal with life's difficulties."

"Fortunately, in this chart, Virgo is not going to completely get its way. A life drained of emotion is no way to live really, and furthermore, without the guidance of emotion Virgo tends to concentrate quite vigorously on the wrong things, missing the big picture, making mountains out of molehills and engaging in ceaseless activity without meaning or purpose..."

"That's an awful lot of emphasis on balance. I feel that this emphasis relates to the vocation, the person's calling, and that the person is being tasked, if you want to call it that, with a lifelong quest for the balance that will best support their work..."

"But first I'll point out all the myriad ways the chart supports this kind of work. I'm just so pleased that you want to work in such a field. It's so on track and shows a good intuitive sense of what you need to be doing. I felt from the beginning that this chart was not afraid of death and that it wanted or was willing to place itself somewhere where it would be dealing with issues of life and death. I was originally thinking hospice care worker but I think emergency work is better for a variety of reasons. On a minor note, disaster relief presents the possibility of travel to the affected areas. This is not a big deal but I think it's more in line with the chart's interests and in an odd way I think it is beneficial in terms of money. I think the potential for travel suits Jupiter in this chart, and Jupiter is, among other things, a money planet..."
