How can an astrological reading meet your needs?

An astrological reading typically provides the following kinds of benefits:

1. Provides a road map. Different kinds of readings provide different kinds of maps.
You can choose the type that fits your current needs.

a. NATAL CHART READING. This provides an overall road map of your basic journey through life.
Typical computerized reports provide information on your 'personality' from your natal chart, which can be fun
and helpful. A professional, individualized reading can provide much more, however.

In my readings, I look at how your basic journey through life unfolds through time. At any given moment, you
are at a particular place along your life path. You have particular tasks to perform in order to get to the next
destination in your journey. This sounds simple enough. But in reality, most of us were not given the map at birth
and we easily find ourselves getting lost!

Your intuition will often tell you that you need to work on a particular life task (such as establishing a loving
relationship) but you can't seem to figure out how to get it done. You wonder if it's 'not your destiny' to have
a loving relationship or if there is something wrong with you or what the heck is going on. You want to know
what to do next. A natal chart reading can tell you where you are in your personal 'life plan' for development,
as well as when and what you might do to get over your current hurdles and move on to manifesting what
you desire!

A natal chart reading can also give you broader insight into the timing of larger aspirations (such as going
back to school to get your degree), and into the broader themes and issues of your life. It can give you insight
into some of the layers of purpose and meaning in your life. (I typically use three layers of purpose: your social
purpose--the contribution you make to others; your personal purpose--the thing you desire most to manifest in
your life and will spend the longest time working on, and your satisfaction purpose--the challenge you will gain
the most satisfaction by meeting.)

b. TRANSIT READING . In my experience, transits are the single most accurate and powerful tool in all of astrology. Transits relate
what is going on in the sky now to your unique birthchart. A transit reading can give you a much more specific road map
of the next year to 3 1/2 years of your life. Transit readings relate specifically to what is going on in your life
now, what you need to work on right this moment. They give you powerful insight into timing and issues and
help provide some meaning, comfort, and insight into what you are currently experiencing.

The most powerful and beneficial reading for a first-time consultation is a combination of a natal chart reading
and a transit reading. The natal chart portion gives you some insight into the larger purpose of the current conditions,
while the transit reading gives you some guidance on how to deal with those conditions.

I specialize in midlife transit readings. Midlife (around 38 years old to around 53 years old) provides a large and very fruitful
number of transits that can transform your life in ways that are hard to imagine before they occur. Most of us have
heard of the 'midlife crisis' but few of us are informed as to the many layers of personal meaning that the crisis
signifies. Everyone experiences a predictable set of midlife transits, but the meaning of them varies greatly from
individual to individual. (Which is why it is helpful to talk to a professional astrologer to sort them all out!)

Midlife transits are especially wonderful for those who feel like 'late bloomers,' as these transits frequently signal
the beginning of the blooming process! Midlife transits also frequently relate to relationships, especially romantic relationships.
Earlier midlife transits often have to do with breaking free of earlier relationship patterns that are not ideal.
Later midlife transits often have to do with the need to reconnect via relationship in a new and healthier and more
joyful way. That's why one of my areas of sub-speciality is helping women over 40 who are single get back into the
relationship game in a new and happier way.

c. PROGRESSIONS. Progressions are a specialized astrological predictive technique (actually there are a number of techniques
astrologers use to calculate progressions). Most astrologers will incorporate progressions into a transit reading. You can also
look at progressions in isolation for an overview of some broader themes that will play out over time in your chart. Progressions
are perhaps midway between the zoom out focus of a natal chart reading and the closer focus of a transit reading. They provide
another view of the road map.

d. SOLAR RETURN CHARTS . A solar return chart is a specialized astrological technique based on the time the sun returns to its natal
position (which means approximately the time of your birthday). Solar return charts are intended to provide a road map for a year.
I  interpret the solar return charts in relation to your natal chart. I don't typically analyze the solar return chart in isolation, although I will on request.

I consider combining the solar return chart with the natal chart to be the second most helpful road map that astrology can offer.

2. Connecting to self. The second type of benefit an astrological reading typically provides is a renewed
connection to your internal sense of what you need and want to be doing with your life.

My experience with clients is that their intuitions are very accurate, but very hard for them to hear! I experience this in my own life. We
typically deal with so many voices in our heads (the voice of intuition and soul purpose, the voice of parents, the voice of society, the
voice of lovers, spouses, and children, the voice of reason, the voice of fear and bad experience, etc.) that it can be very hard to sort
them all out during times of decision, stress, or uncertainty.

Astrology has trained me to be able to hear the authentic voice of your chart (i.e., your soul) when you talk and therefore validate the
internal voices that are trying to lead you down the path that is right for your personal journey. It would be so wonderful if we could all
do this for ourselves, the reality is that it is very difficult. We all need a sounding board from time to time. An astrological reading provides
the kind of sounding board that lets you hear and reconnect with your own important and valuable feelings inside.

3. Making your dreams and goals come true.

This is personally my very favorite part of doing astrological consultations for people. I love watching people's dreams come true and
their goals get achieved! This is why I do astrology, why I use it myself, why I share it with others. My goal is to help you make your dreams
come true.

If you think about it, there are about a million self-help books out there that will tell you how to succeed at this or that. But none of them
can be individualized to you personally the way an astrological reading can. Your own personal path to success, your dreams,
your goals--they are not exactly like anyone else's. Furthermore, your timing, the propitious moments in your life aren't exactly like anyone
else's.

Knowing what types of things to do and when--and then doing them with the support of your chart and a professional astrologer who cares--
as the commercial says--priceless. Because you are following the path that is particular and unique to your own soul purpose, your chances
of success go up exponentially. It becomes easier to do what you need to do because you can feel inside that these are the right types of
things and that you need to work on them now. And believe me, easier is better than harder. And more successful is better than less sucessful.

Furthermore, the beautiful thing about astrology is that even if you have failed at a particular goal many times before, astrology can help
you succeed when the time is right and you are ready. That's not only comforting, sometimes it's downright magical.

This is the most inspiring element of astrology from my perspective, and I consider myself lucky to have been witness to many people who
have succeeded in fulfilling cherished dreams and goals that might once have seemed far out of reach for them.

4. Seeing the Opportunity in the Problem

Nobody really likes to be visited with an unexpected crisis, problem, bad feeling, or unexpected reversal. I don't either. I don't like pain
any better than anyone else does, and I definitely experience my share of it. I'm lucky to have people I can complain to when it hits (and
let me tell it's sure nice to have an astrologer on your side sometimes so you can say 'this Pluto transit is kicking my butt' and have
someone know exactly what you mean!).

But I'm also lucky to have discovered astrology in the sense that...I've learned through astrology that problems and pain have purposes
and benefits. Sayings like 'it's always darkest before the dawn' or 'getting diagnosed with cancer was the best thing that ever happened
to me' sound nice in the abstract but... when you're actually getting pounded by Pluto or Neptune it's a godsend to have some idea how
the pain can pay off or what lesson you are being forced to learn or how the story is supposed to turn out with a happy ending.

I think we all want, during moments of suspense, to have at least some clue as to how the story turns out. In essence, that's what astrology
provides. It provides the suggested ending of the story and when the story is supposed to end. Just knowing when a difficult transit is
supposed to wrap up is worth a lot in and of itself.

What's more helpful in the long run, though, is the habit that astrology gets you into of learning to look for the opportunity in the problem.
This one habit is a habit that successful people seem to naturally adopt. The rest of us could use a little help. Having an outside party
talk to you about the opportunities in your current problems goes a long way toward making those problems manageable, bearable, and
even ultimately productive in getting you to where you want to go.
